My Story
Growing up with environmental studies just as a secondary subject, I studied the three “R’s” of waste management – Reduce, Reuse and Recycle. I hardly ever encountered the term ‘upcycling.’ However, I did have the ‘Best out of Waste’ class once a week. Back then, my mind perceived this activity as just another craft session and nothing beyond. I was too naive to realize that this concept of art from scrap can make a significant difference in our society.
Fast forward to June 2019. I went for a trek in the Himalayas, where I was introduced to green trailing. I witnessed the negative impact man leaves behind after trekking and also how possible it is to tackle. This further got me introduced to upcycling in a whole new way. Since then, upcycling utterly intrigues me. And as my enthusiasm for trekking grew, my admiration of nature grew with it. Exponentially! I was becoming mindful than ever before.
On top of all these experiences, Covid-19 was another wake-up call. While we stayed at home, nature was healing itself. It got me thinking of our impact on a much deeper level. And as a result, my journey of environmentalism began; and Ecopurple is a product of this “eco-wakening.”
Ecopurple is here to create awareness and highlight the green initiatives and services offered by people and communities. Through this domain, I intend to promote environmentalism and sustainable living.
The doors are open for all of you who can add value and contribute to Ecopurple by sharing your sustainable crafts or stories. Your eco-creativity will be featured with pride!
